Our Community

Glacier Gals

Bringing the women of Glacier View Meadows together for fun, friendship, and service for fifty years.

We bring the women of Glacier View Meadows together for fun, friendship, and the chance to serve our community. We’re chartered as a 501(c)(7) non-profit association, and for fifty years we’ve encouraged involvement in the wider community, raised funds, and put on regular events that make life on the mountain better.

  • We meet monthly to socialize and plan events — the third Tuesday of the month
  • Meetings are in the Community Room, on the lower level of the GVM office at Gate 8
  • We’d love to have you join us!

Events & programs

Community potluck

On the last Saturday of each month (except November and December) we host a community-wide potluck at 5:30 pm in the Community Room beneath the GVM office. Bring your own table service and a dish to share; coffee and wine are provided. Neighbors, newcomers, and visitors are all welcome.

Holiday dinner & gift exchange

Held at the Mountain Meetin’ Place in late December, with holiday decorations and a one-per-person gift exchange. Glacier Gals provide the main course and beverages; everyone else brings a dish to share.

Pancake breakfasts

Our Memorial Day and Labor Day pancake breakfasts are a longstanding tradition and our biggest fundraisers. The flipping starts at 7:00 am at the Mountain Meetin’ Place and goes until noon — follow the big colorful signs on Highway 74E.

Community Work Day

Once a year, usually in August, we coordinate with the GVM Manager on a day of community projects — painting, trail work, cleanup, fence repair. Glacier Gals provide a continental breakfast and a sloppy joe lunch. The more helpers the better.

Adopt-a-Highway

On the first Thursday of the warmer months, volunteers clean up five miles of Highway 74E (Red Feather Lakes Road) along the buck-and-rail fencing that borders our community.

Field trips

About once a month we carpool from the Glacier View office for a day trip, lunch, and good company.

Fundraising

  • Aluminum can recycling — Blue barrels next to the trash compactor at Gate 8 (aluminum cans only, please). Members sort and bag the cans, and the collection is trucked to Fort Collins several times a month.
  • Reflective house numbers — Strongly recommended by the Glacier View Fire District, these signs save valuable time in emergencies. Order forms are at the GVM office; signs are available with or without posts.
  • GVM logo wear — Sweatshirts, t-shirts, and more, on display at the GVM office and community events.
