Road Management

How the Association grades, plows, and maintains more than 80 miles of mountain roads.

Glacier View Meadows has more than 80 miles of roads, and keeping them passable through mountain winters and summer storms is one of the Association’s biggest jobs. Road maintenance is funded by Road & Recreation dues.

Summer: grading

Each summer our crew grades more than 50 miles of gravel road to smooth washboarding, restore the crown so water drains off, and repair storm damage.

Winter: snow plowing

In winter those same roads must be kept clear of snow. Our crew plows the community’s roads so residents can get in and out safely.

Equipment & costs

It takes large and costly equipment to maintain our roads. Our vehicles use nearly 10,000 gallons of fuel a year, plus constant maintenance — oil changes, hydraulic fluid, tires, snow chains, plow blades, and grader blades. See the Equipment page for more.
